Earth Days- The Inspiring Story of the Modern Environmental Movement Add Video
Full video can be seen at: http://video.pbs.org/video/1463378089 I had to share this excellent and insightful two hour documentary that outlines the development of the modern Environmental movement in the US since the 1960's. Some great footage from the past 50 years and of course seeing the changes that have occurred in this time really helps to understand what is happening and can be done today. I am sure it will be of interest even if you are not American as a lot of the changes and obstacles to environmental awareness and action that have occurred there are globally relevant. It approaches the issues through the memories and opinions of 9 inspirational individuals who have been 'in the thick of the movement' for most of their lives. Stewart Udall: Author of 'The Quiet Crisis' (1963), Secretary of Interior under Kennedy and Johnson, played a key role in most of the landmark environmental laws passed in the US in the 1960's. Dennis Hayes: Coordinator of the first Earth Day (1970) Founder of Earth Day Network Hunter Lovins: Co-founder (with husband Amory Lovins) of the Rocky Mountain Institute Dennis Meadows: Co-Author 'Limits to Growth' (1972) Rusty Schweickhart: Astronaut, Apollo 9 Paul Ehrlich: Author, The Population Bomb (1962) Stewart Brand: Editor 'The Whole Earth Catalogue' Stephanie Mills: Author and Bioregionalist Peter McClosky: Former Californian Republican Senator, co-author 'Endangered Species Act'.
